Computer-science: Hi, OSSU participators, I've ever made a Chinese version of our guide

Thanks to the OSSU, I have ever taken a better experience of CS learning with your selected courses, so for further spreading in my homeland, I have ever translated the original version of the guide into Chinese(zh-cn), but I need your help to optimize it and spread it. Please help, and have a good time.

In my opinion, the WHOLE curriculum is in English, so learners must
have an ability to speak English if they want to join the curriculum. In
other words, this translation may not be helpful to Chinese who can only
speak Chinese, So I think it would be better if you can offer a chinese
alternative curriculum.
Chinese:
在我看来，这个课程全是以英文授课的，所以学习的人必须要拥有一定的英语能力。也就是说，翻译对只会运用中文的学生来说帮助不大。所以我认为最好能把课程替换为全中文的课程。

But I have to agree with @jimages , as our entire curriculum is in English, maybe it will not be too helpful until we have the majority of the courses translated as well.

We need to think what to do with translations...

Maybe would be more helpful create articles in our native language, teaching what we learnt in the courses listed here.

Hi @jimages and thank you! I am helping Eric now as co-maintainer of the CS curriculum. I'd be really happy for the curriculum to be known in China, though there are several challenges we'd have to overcome.

As you can see the curriculum changed quite a bit since @CherryMill produced his translation. Much of the English text got re-written to be more concise, it's formatted differently, and there are quite a few different courses.

However the most important issue is still that many of the courses are English-only, and I would also bring up that we use many edX courses, but edX hosts their videos from YouTube which can't be accessed in China. So I believe the Chinese OSSU CS curriculum will end up being substantively different from the English one.

A good starting point would be to see which courses could be replaced from the link @li-xinyang posted: http://study.163.com/curricula/cs.htm (which has a really cool graphic showing the course progression that we should totally steal some day)

There could also be some options here: http://www.xuetangx.com/courses?cid=117 though this site confusingly sometimes links to edX which makes no sense...

I will try to be helpful whenever I can but my Chinese isn't good enough to directly help with the translation. I can help you to understand better the changes that were made to the curriculum, and if you and other native speakers can put something together that you feel matches the curriculum well enough (even though perfect matching is probably impossible) I'll be happy to incorporate a link to the translation repo into the main repo.

Hey @hanjiexi. As I have joined the issue before, I know the challenges that we have to face. So I plan not only to translate. but also to replace courses with completely Chinese ones. I also plan to learn from the English curriculum.

By the way, I think it would be better if you can create a Chinese repo and we commit ,because in somehow I think the Chinese version of the OSSU CS is not a translation but a completely new project. For most courses of English OSSU CS curriculum don't have Chinese translation, we have to make our own curriculum basing the Chinese native resource. Despite the same subject, the 2 version of CS curriculum will may develop differently. Because we have to start from the beginning, it may not be a short-term work.

As for the changes, I plan to learn from the structure of the original curriculum and improve the translation basing on @CherryMill 's work and replace the courses with ones from http://study.163.com/curricula/cs.htm , http://www.xuetangx.com and other Chinese online courses.

I have find that the translation of @CherryMill is under the GPL-3 license. Do the GPL-3 License and the MIT License conflict?

Sounds good. I am inquiring with Eric about creating an official Chinese
repo, one of us will get back to you when we can.

Regarding the licensing issue, MIT code can be incorporated into GPL code
but GPL code cannot be incorporated into MIT code without the permission of
all authors of the GPL code. So you'll need @CherryMill's explicit
permission (i.e. relicensing) for incorporating any of his translation.
