Community-edition: Notifications without sound

Created on 31 Aug 2017  路  2Comments  路  Source: ramboxapp/community-edition

Simple question and possible feature request.

Is there any way to keep the notifications but disable the sound they make? I still want to hear other desktop sounds such as Spotify etc. and really like the desktop notifications, but the sound they make are starting to wear on me, with several conversations going on it's just a chaos of notification sounds.

I've tried muting Rambox with the Windows volume mixer but that didn't help as the notifications are coming from the OS. I've also looked in the settings but couldn't find anything related to it.

I'm on Windows 10 Professional 64bit, using Rambox 0.5.10 64bit.

As it turns out, Windows 10 is once again very "clear" in where to find options.

To turn of sounds for notifications from a specific application:

  • Go to Settings (the new Control Panel)
  • Click System (top left)
  • Click Notifications & actions
  • Wait for the application list at the bottom of the page to load
  • Click the corresponding application (yes, apparently you can click the name, thanks microsoft)
  • Toggle off "Play a sound when a notification arrives"
