On https://craftcms.com/guides/how-craft-license-enforcement-works you explain if it has a "dev sounding name".
We use https://ddev.readthedocs.io for most local development with Craft. They used to use ddev.local as their test subdomain but by default it uses ddev.site now.
It's a small request, I wonder if you could add ddev.site in part of the licensing checks, as it would make life a little easier for us.
We can always remap the domains for each project, and it's not like we can't get our work done, so this is quite a minor inconvenience - I think it only really presents itself when we're trying to switch craft versions in the early dev phase. But all the same, My hope is that it's fairly safe and simple fix for you to add ddev.site without any compromise on licensing.
Thanks!
