Client: Feature Request: A way to set default notification settings

Created on 11 Oct 2017  路  4Comments  路  Source: keybase/client

Currently, the Keybase application allows you to set notification settings on a conversation-by-conversation (or channel-by-channel) basis.

I would like to be able to set the default notification settings for channels which don't have custom notification settings. My specific motivation for this is disabling mobile push notifications for everything except DMs, @ mentions and high-value channels that I care about.

Ideally this should be available with the other notification settings under Settings > Notifications

Sorry if this is a duplicate. Searching for 'notification' in open issues returns too many results to go throug

How is this still not addressed since 2017? New KeyBase user here and the default push notification methods are atrocious.

In addition, I'd like to also see a default that allows me to disable @-channel notifications globally.

If KeyBase is to replace Slack, fine-grained notification controls are a must. When choosing between security and convenience most people will always choose convenience, having to manually change every frigging channel to "Only @mentions" is a really annoying chore. Multiplied by thousands of users of KeyBase, this is flushing many, many man-hours down the drain.

I started considering migration from slack lately, but lack of this functionality seems to be a big blocker :(
