On keybase, I have a device named "Xubuntu". Once I finished setup, I realized I have a second Xubuntu device I may want to connect to KB. Now I want to change the device name to match the device's hostname, so I can keep track of things better.
Is this possible? I don't want to revoke a device, just to add it again with a new name... Unless this is the only way it can be done.
Side note: I did try this via my second Xubuntu device. But when I tried logging into KB via terminal there, my password (used to login via browser) was not being accepted.
Hi, you'll have to revoke to change a device name.
There isn't a deep reason why this can't be done. We just haven't
implemented it yet.

Is there new development in regards to changing names of devices? Keep up the good work.
I'm also interested in the status of this feature. How does it look with the device renaming feature, please? I think it's a pretty popular request.
The initial UX when setting up can be bad if you setup a 'placeholder' name while you figure out if keybase.io is something you want to use in the long run. The current flow is punishing for those that are on the fence about starting to use it.
Hi, you'll have to revoke to change a device name.
I revoked my old laptop (mbp) and tried to setup my new laptop with the same name. The error says You've already used this device name ...
So the name is burnt now or is there any way to reuse a device name?
