Issue
Group window list no longer works as expected. Enable "only list windows from the current monitor" and the results are the same as when not enabled.

The panel on all monitors has apps from all monitors.

Steps to reproduce

1. Download Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon iso
2. Install with vmware fusion pro on Mac OSX 10.14.5 that has at least 2 monitors
3. Set full-screen to use all monitors
4. Add Panel to secondary monitor
5. Add window list and grouped window list to secondary monitor panel
6. Enable "only list windows from the current monitor"

Expected behaviour
If a window is only on the left monitor for example, it should not be listed in the panel on the right monitor.

Other information

This hasn't been an issue in the past. But this case is different since I'm operating out of a VM. However, I'm reporting the issue now because even my other machine where the host is Linux Mint 19.1, I randomly will have an issue where the icon for a window will show on both monitor panel even with the setting "only list windows from the current monitor" is enabled. On that machine I can usually move the window from left to right monitor or the reverse and it will work properly again. In the VM, I haven't found a way to resolve the issue. This may be a related to how VM handles virtual monitors? I don't know

Just chiming in to say I have the same problem on 19.2 (not in a VM, but on a laptop with external screen). I eventually had to stop using grouped windows entirely because at some point after fiddling around with it I had managed to set up a hidden instance of grouped windows which did not manifest on any screen's panel, hijacking my windows and denying me control of them.

The original maintainer of the grouped window list applet is banned, and can't fork or open pull requests. I had a chance to talk to him, and he said he would be willing to fix some of the GWL issues otherwise.

Found the commit that removed the Only list windows from the current monitor switch
Per the comments:

GWL can detect the presence of instances on other monitors so there's no need
for this option.

However, this is not true and is broken

Had this issue with GWL on Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.3.
Just switched to CobiWindowList (thanks!). It works well and thank God no tooltips pop out when the cursor hovers over the list!

After I suspend my PC, the windows on the second screen are not listed.
However, if Cinnamon is restarted Ctrl-Alt-Esc the windows are then listed.
