Cinnamon: Recent documents applet ::: items moved or deleted unresponsive [Bug] [Feature Request]

    At the moment when you click an item in the dropdown list of "Recent documents" applet absolutely nothing happens if it was deleted or moved, in which case one would normally expect a message to be displayed that the item might have been deleted or moved.

I also think that it could be a good idea to ask either for its removal from the list or for searching it under the user's home folder or something like that ( _if its cost is justifiable of course_ ; -)

APPLETS BUG BUG REPRODUCED

@Sadi58 can you provide the steps to reproduce this issue? Thanks.

@icarter09 It's very easy to reproduce:

  1. Create a new empty document in Home directory, opening and typing some text and saving it.
  2. Open the Recent Documents applet and check if it is listed and does open when you click it in the Recent Documents list.
  3. Go to Home folder and delete that file.
  4. Open the Recent Documents applet, which should still list it, doing nothing when you click it.

Expected behavior:
Deleted items should either be automatically removed from the list or upon clicking it a message should be displayed that it must have been deleted or moved to another location, preferably providing the user an option to remove it from the list.

@Sadi58 thanks. I was able to verify and reproduce the bug.

Since this bug is related to an applet and not Cinnamon, it should be moved to the 'cinnamon-spices-applet' repo.

@icarter09 Sorry. Can you move it? Should I move it? How?

@Sadi58 Probably the easiest way would be to close this one out and reopen a new one in applets. Feel free to tag me in the ticket and i'll add in my two cents as well. Thanks.

@Sadi58 sorry but I'm wrong. Leave this ticket here. It's a 'cinnamon-applet' not a 'cinnamon-spices-applet. My bad.

Reopening since it is related to being a "cinnamon-applet" instead of a "cinnamon-spices-applet".
