Hi,
Issue
Missing Icons on systray
I'm missing most of the icons (namely Mega and kde connect) except the music one like audacious/Clementine.
All icons are showing up fine on Xfce but not on my cinnamon DE.
I tried to disable/re-enable the systray Applet only to get a message that something went wrong.
The programs are working fine in the background and i get all their notifications.
Steps to reproduce
Expected behaviour
All icons appearing in the systray.
Other information
Works fine here
leigh123linux,
First I'm glad that your applet is working.
I took the time to open an incident as advised by the cinnamon applet and i get that type of answer....you're not asking for logs , not asking any questions ??
Just closing by stating that your config is fine is nothing less than insulting.
@jediafr If you want your issue taken seriously try posting logs or error messages in the initial report as we wont ask for them due to time restrictions.
I've followed the provided guidelines by the Mint Project (https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/wiki/Issues-and-Troubleshooting).
Nowhere are logs mentioned in the procedure. Could you please indicate me where to find the logs relevant to this incident ?
I have had this issue also, and in my case, I was able to get the icons to appear by first shutting down the owning application, and then launching it using the command "dbus-launch
Thank you for your help, i also opened an incident with Mega dev but no commands was able restore the icon.
The Icon shows up fine in Xcfe so it has to be Cinnamon related...Alas without advanced guidance from Mint i cant go any further.
Have you tried enabling indicator support in Cinnamon settings (System Settings > General > Enable indicator support)?
Just tried enabling indicator support ON, after rebooting cinnamon the icons were still missing.
Out of solutions i went nuclear on this one : i've deleted .cinnamon in my home directory.
The icons are back. Problem solved for me.
The problem occurs when disabling 'removables drives' and 'user applet'.
Same bug with the icon of Seafile (a Dropbox-like) that, sometimes, doesn't appear in the systray. However, Seafile is running correctly.
The solution I gave above (running using dbus-launch) works for any icon I've had this issue with, _but_ the program has to be quit first if it's running.
Also, if you've changed this in Startup Items, check to make sure the change has been retained. I had to delete the original launchers in there, and replace them with command-lines using dbus in order to get the program to start properly using it. Otherwise, when I go back into the Startup Items, the command line will have been reverted to its original form.
Since it is impossible to re enable icons afaik i nuked the config then
left the default alone.
There's something in the way the systray expects icons to appear that is
faulty but since the dev don't provide a way to debug....
