Cherrytree: Better tables

Created on 27 Oct 2016  路  7Comments  路  Source: giuspen/cherrytree

Please improve tables.

I use OneNote everyday but at home I prefer to use OpenSource software like cherrytree. In OneNote, the tables are very flexible and it is very easy to create them just by writing something and than clicking TAB. Also the cells use the same formatting as outside, like bullets, pictures, etc.

While porting the app from pygtk2 to gtkmm3 I'm adopting a new way to represent the tables that in future will allow to develop improvements for the table cells

Totally agree, at least alignment options and basic merge/split of cells would make a great difference

Another interesting thing would be the table styling, I think there is currently no way to change for example the text and background colors, and it would be useful with the Dark Theme (tables are always Light Theme)

Would also be great to be able to change the font size in tables, so they can be made to fit the screen (only tested on 0.36.4 - might be implemented already, maybe?)

Is here still development?

Links in table cells would be awesome!

Hello,

i can sad, this software is all right, but it can be better. ;)

I use OneNote at work and at home CUEcard 2000 (since 2002).
I love the flexibility threaded from CUECards, but i lost this in OneNote. OneNote is better with design the notes. In heise i have see alternative software for OneNote and i find CherryTree.

  • it have a flexibility threaded (missing in OneNote)
  • i can copy Informations with pictures (missing in CUEcards - i must individually copy picture)

  • i missing more flexibility in table and inserting pictures in tables

  • i missing links to heading (in OneNote can i set links to sections in this site or to other sites)

If this points in CherryTree to and it is farther offline and not only Cloud then i throw OneNote in the waste paper bin. :D

Regards

Also interested in being able to have formatted text in tables. I'm in the process of migrating notes over from OneNote, & have many table cells that contain links under the text - which I just realized was being lost when transferring over. The only workaround I could think of (which is what I'm now doing) is to extract all my tables to external excel .xls files, and attach those. It would of course be much nicer to be able to leave embedded tables, with formatting for their text :)
