Che: Code Style Export for Mains IDEs

Created on 20 Jan 2017  Â·  8Comments  Â·  Source: eclipse/che

I tried to follow https://github.com/codenvy/codenvy-dev-resources/tree/master to configure my IDE and be sure to not break the whole code format. And it wasn't as easy, and do not seems to be perfect.

But, I think it could be useful for contributors to have an exports for mains IDEs, like IDEA and Eclipse. It will ensure to use the same configurations as core Che's devs.

Do you know where I can find them? Or can a core dev export it and publish in a repository?
Thanks

@bmicklea - I think that this would be content & explanation that is part of Che's page on setting up your IDE to work with Che. We may need to invite an engineer to assist on what they do here.

Does this page cover that: https://www.eclipse.org/che/docs/plugins/setup-che-workspace/index.html

Or am I missing something?

No - he's asking about IDE configuration that can be imported into an IDE to inherit identical configuration parameters of the IDE itself.

For those kinds of stuff: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/2016.3/exporting-and-importing-settings.html
And especially to the "Java code style" part.

@slemeur, was this something you were discussing today?

Yes, and in fact, we have that by the past, @benoitf found it in the hsitory:
https://github.com/codenvy/codenvy-dev-resources/tree/cded88bbe9b6cf006ac5ba5b99ca9069a87109cc/che-codestyle/src/main/resources

I would think we just have to update it and re-integrate it.

I think it's an issue for @skabashnyuk's team

I updated the project's wiki with this information - https://github.com/eclipse/che/wiki/Development-Workflow.
