When i press the back button on my phone the keyboard pops up. Then i press for example s to smash the keyboard doesnt dissappear, i have to press the back button again to make it dissapear. Then if i open up the keyboard again, and press for example V, it asks me to chose a direction to smash. Its like the game is remembering my last keypresses and keeps them active. When i spam a lot of keys i see the keys stack up in my keyboarda suggestion bar.
This started happening once i downloaded the APK from the website where it automaticly uploads apks of the newest version of the game.
When i was playing the Google Play version of CleverRaven with beta tester rogram it didnt happen, it was the stablest version.
Ill stick to the Google Play version for now, its just very outdated.
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
The game remembers last keypress and repeats it no matter what other key i press.

Possibly related to https://github.com/CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA/issues/24363. Please try toghling new option in prelaunch menu from #35623 and see if it helps.

Still present on 10110, 64-bit, but I've found that occasionally using the "@" symbol from the phone pop-up keyboard (not in-game shortcuts) causes the keyboard input to work as expected again.

Expected behavior: push a virtual keyboard key, key is sent to app.
Actual behavior: push a keyboard key, is not sent to cataclysm app. However, if you then tap one of the autocomplete suggestions, that is sent. Sometimes. It's wierd.
Attempted with force full screen and without; same behavior.
Using ZTE phone android ver. 7.1.1.1.
That's on keyboard app. Try disabling autocomplete suggestions there.

symbols and the number row. Spam that a bit, close the keyboard open it up
again, and press a symbol, i use @. Fiddle around with it, that should work.

I still have a cataclysm experimental installed from prior last September, and the keyboard works fine. It's not the keyboard.
But I tried disabling autocomplete anyway, and it didn't change the key not being sent. Though now if I hit return it does send all keys pressed prior to return at the same time.(testing with default character name field in options so I see this happen) but return is itself not sent. if I press return without typing anything else,nothing happens, keyboard remains open, cataclysm registers no key press.
Tested this in prior September experimental, without autofill suggestions, and all variations of keypress work correctly. no change in behavior with or without autocomplete. Is there a way to make that the behavior again in current experimentals?

Er, no. It doesn't input anything. If I fiddle with numbers and symbols like you suggested, it sometimes does register but it's hit or miss, and only for that instance. The next time I use the keyboard it fails again.
So SwiftKey keyboard used to automatically send input and did not save previous commands in the autocorrect, so I think this still needs to be resolved. I don't feel turning off autocorrect or switching keyboards is a sufficient long term solution.
However, I did want to mention that in the meantime Hackers Keyboard and Codeboard work fine and you should be able to quick switch when your default keyboard is open. I figured turning your autocorrect on and off everytime or deleting your previous commands is going to get old super fast.
confirmed, codeboard works.So I've got a workaround for now. Though since the stock android keyboard does not work, it is still a problem.
Yeah, it would remain a problem if keyboard app does not send keycodes to Cata. And it would do so when autocorrection and suggestions are enabled.
I'd like to note that this issue still stands as of the release of Ellison. The extra keyboard idea is good, in the meantime I was working around it by switching out and back into the app:
*Press running processes button
*Go back into CDDA
The keyboard will still be up and should work for the next command you input.

Vendors put things in stock keyboard apps which make them behave differently from physical keyboards, so try disabling auto-correction, search suggestions/input predictions and other similar functions.
I have a related issue that consistently crashes the game.
I am playing version 0.E-2 on a google Pixel 2 running its stock and up to date Android OS.
When I plug in my Dell compact keyboard via USB, the game crashes.
This error did not exist in the previous versions to my knowledge as it is how i always played the game
What if you plug in your physical keyboard before starting a game?
Unfortunately the same issue persists.
originally I thought the issue was due to me streaming from my phone to my
Chromecast so that I would not have to crane my neck to play the game.
unfortunately the only troubleshooting that has actually resolved the issue
is unplugging the keyboard which worked in the last version.

open source is great. I'm actually trying to teach myself how to code so

Its not related to the use of the keyboard, its the presence of it. When i
plug the keyboard in, or if I start the app with it plugged in it
terminates and if i try to restart it, i get this message.

Its not a crash log, just the standard google mesage that says "This appkeeps stopping" then it gives me the option to look at the app info, close,or send report.
Id wager its some kind of issue with either the drivers or a script. I willtry to attach the screenshot again,
