Cataclysm-dda: Prisoner start can spawn player in inescapable rock cavern

Operating system: Win10

Tiles or curses: N/A

Mods active: Medieval Content, More Survival Tools, No Acid/Explosive/Fungal Zombies/Monsters, Disable NPC Needs, Prevent Zombie Rev, No Fictional/Sci-Fi Guns/Equipment, Simplified Nutrition

Expected behavior

Spawn in prison basement (in mess room)

Actual behavior

Spawn in rock cavern without any doors/windows. NPC is there, and maybe one or two pieces of fruit.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

Create new world, do prisoner start, happened for me two out of six times.

I fully intended this as a bug report, not as some larger discussion on the difficulty of CDDA in general. If I was the one who added the wrong tags, then I apologize (as I'm not familiar with GitHub enough to use it correctly, it seems). This report was fully intended as a bug report, and presumably for map-gen.

I'm happy with very limited chances of survival, so long as it is above mathematical zero. Thank you for the attention!

This is not an issue. Basically, it is never guaranteed for you to be able to survive any give scenerio. This is to teach your PC that life isn't always fair, and to just deal with it.

No this is a mapgen bug, the prision basement did not generate properly.

What Kevin has spoken of is guaranteed chances to escape the prison, but in this case there is no proper prison in the map.

It's nearly 100% up to the player whether or not they are able to survive any scenario, Now if you spawn with some very defined problem that will kill the player in a very limited number of turns, I'd say you still have an 80% chance to survive, otherwise its impossible. This only happens on the maybe 2 professions you can pick. I don't quite understand the point of saying that it's never guaranteed to survive any scenario.
However, like john said, this is a scenario in which there is no possible way (without role playing your way out using cheats) to move any further than the cave tile.

This really shouldn't have been labeled game balance and suggestion/discussion, we've had this same exact bug with many other starts like the hospital or cabin starts (and maybe more). The issue is because the initially spawned overmap doesn't always have the specified building spawned in, so it can't teleport you anywhere and you spawn in weird places. I forget how they solved the previous issues, but maybe you can spawn the building that the player requires first before any other tiles.
