Hello,
With release 1.3.0, when I receive a new message, I do get a notification in my my icon tray, but part of the animation appears to be a box that indicates the frame for that animation is missing. I get the impression one of the icons for the animation is missing from the package.
Using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

I'm not too sure what you mean by animation as we only swap between 2 icons.
Here is a short screen cap I did that demonstrates the issue. It should play with VLC or anything else that supports ogv files.

(I know the link seems weird, but I assure you it's a legit download :P)
Doesn't seem we'll be able to fix this in Caprine as we just tell Electron to set a new icon. So the bug is either in Electron itself or Ubuntu.
What are the two icons and where are they located? I notice I could not find the icons in the same place as indicated in the README
They IconTray and IconTrayUnread in the static/ folder
This folder is not present in the release zip file.
in the release zip it should be in resoures/app/media
This folder also does not appear to exist :P
the app is packaged using asar so see #79
@jamesrobb in the future, you can use https://github.com/forivall/fabiokr-dotfiles/blob/cc09efd31dba67ac4c822f009ac4c77584f281cc/bin/ogv-to-gif to convert the ogv screencast to a gif
@forivall Thanks!
@danhp I can see it with asar, I wonder what is going on. If I find out why, I will be sure to post here. To confirm, it should be switching between the normal icon and unread icon to show a blinking effect?
@jamesrobb No it should just switch to the appropriate state, no blinking involved.
@danhp Right, so just a solid icon with the red dot?
@jamesrobb Yup
On Ubuntu 14.04 with version 1.4.1 I get the following behaviour:

Basically the icon intermittently disappears and reappears so long as an unread message is present.
Pretty sure it's an Electron issue. See https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/6301.
@rororofff has funded $2.00 to this issue.
That Electron issue was closed a while back because it was outdated, not fixed directly. Does this issue still occur in more current versions of Caprine?
Closing this as its a stale issue. I haven't used Caprine in a long time so I can't meaningfully comment on the status of this problem any longer.
