It is not possible to import data from Google Analytics due to a misconfiguration of the OAuth client. When trying with Safari it simply fails as unauthorised, when trying with Chrome a pop-up is shown with the following information:
The JavaScript origin in the request, https://www.caniuse.com, does not match the ones authorized for the OAuth client. Visit https://console.developers.google.com/apis/credentials/oauthclient/347274306104.apps.googleusercontent.com?project=347274306104 to update the authorized JavaScript origins.

Ah, I had https://caniuse.com, but not the www version. Should work now, though!
There is still some strange behaviour. In Firefox, I can now import the Google Analytics data but only in the second try. First import fails, reload, second import succeeds - this is the same for both https://www.caniuse.com and https://caniuse.com. And it seems to work only if popups for caniuse.com are always allowed. In Chrome and Safari, the import still fails to me. In the console I can see an 401 error, even though I am logged in into my Google Account:
content.googleapis.com/analytics/v3/management/accounts?key=AIzaSyCR08n8gw5EdKOWTgnhuYd3qDr05ZshoHk Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 401 ()
/js/retrieve_ga.js?1:142 There was an error querying accounts: Login Required
My browser versions:
all on MacOS Sierra Version 10.12.6 (16G1212)
Don't know if I should tag onto this report or not, but as of Sept 2018, I'm still finding that in Chrome (latest) and Firefox (latest dev version) the import seems to work, but then never shows the stats for that profile in the upper right. In both cases, only shows USA (which I also imported), and global. No google profile. Has this issue been looked into?
Also I can confirm that you can't import at all unless you set an exception for pop-ups for the caniuse.com domain.
Confirmed w/ @mhair that the usage data also does not show up in Safari after import.
EDIT: works on Chrome if ad-blocking is disabled -- I suppose it's the penalty we pay for not supporting caniuse.com :-)
Just tried it on Safari...indeed it doesn't work initially, but if you reload the page it's there. And not intentionally trying to affect ad-blocking...that may just be related to the pop-up authentication. Will see if there's something I can do about that.
When I am at www.caniuse.com in Firefox 65.0.1 (64-bit) on Mac OS 10.14.2 (18C54), the popup for connecting Google Analytics appears for a second and then vanishes, not allowing me to authorize the connection.
Right now, this only appears to work when using Chrome on Mojave. This is frustrating because I use Firefox as my main browser for surfing and for development.
This appears to be broken once again. After clicking your name to sign in with Google, you get, “Sign in with Google is Temporarily Disabled for this app. This app has not been verified yet by Google in order to use Google Sign In.”
I'd really love to use this feature. Is there any way I can help resolve this error?
This is now fixed for me. Many thanks!
Yeah, should be verified now so that issue should be taken care of.
