Caddy: Planar loop of odd number of cogs will not work

While the caption is “Fewer moving parts”, ironically, there are _no_ moving parts here. These gears cannot turn, because there is an odd number of them in a loop on a plane.

You could fold them along a Möbius strip though, or just insert or remove one cog.

Either way this project looks exciting, I’m gonna give it a try!

Well that's embarrassing. I can't believe they didn't teach me this in college. 🙄
