Buildozer: Kivy :How to ask for storage permission when app starts

I have built my app for android using kivy(buildozer)and it needs storage permission.So after installation of the app ,i have to everytime give permission manually by going to settings.How can i ask for storage permission when the app starts?

You could do it with a runtime permission if I am not mistaken. On android you can simply do
from android.permissions import request_permissions, Permission request_permissions([Permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, Permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE])

I tried that but the app crashes after asking for permission.

As @MBM1607 said, you need this piece of code:

from android.permissions import request_permissions, Permission
request_permissions([Permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, Permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE])

Plus you need to have the permission in your buildozer.spec file.

android.permissions = WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

I don't know for sure but if that is the exact error message have you tried importing 'permission' (singular) from android and using permission.RECORD_AUDIO (lower case p no -s) as it says in the error message?

The suggested code works for storage permissions. However doesn't work for Record Audio

I found the issue and seems it is related to my experience with buildozer. The issue could be resolved by putting the RECORD_AUDIO permission in spec file, while it was not required for storage permissions. Might be because MICROPHONE permissions are classified as dangerous.
