This is a copy of #3144 because it got closed because of an update of Brave but it is still not fixed.
NOTE: I have the Widevine Addon already installed and the error still occurs.
Videos on Amazon Prime are not playable (With Version 0.59.35 it works with shields down)
Tried for 30 Minutes and did not find a workaround.

Video does not play and instead throws an error
Video should play normal
Easily reproduced 100% of tries
0.59.35 Chromium: 72.0.3626.81 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit)

Windows
UPDATE: Does also affect Version 0.59.34
UPDATE2: Version 0.59.35 fixed it partially: It is now working with shields down. I did not change anything on the browser between these two versions.
Well apparently there was an update that I did not notice from 0.59.34 to 0.59.35 which seems to resolve the issue when I am having shields down - I edited my description. It is now working with shields down on 0.59.35 but it was not at all working on 0.59.34
@AstroGD does the issue with the shields enabled still happen when using 0.60.45 Chromium: 72.0.3626.109 which is the latest version on the release channel. Where you using the default shield settings? Or did you make some changes? Example, blocking "All Cookies" rather than "3rd Party".
@kjozwiak Yes the issue still applies with shields on to version 0.60.45 with Chromium 72.0.3626.109 As far as I know I am using default settings. I played with the Settings and found out that disabling the blocking of ads and trackers solves the issue. The other settings are not relevant in my case
I am using the following settings:

Same issue here.
Version 0.61.51 Chromium: 73.0.3683.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Seems to be working for me once I installed Widevine on on amazon.com with the default shield settings, example:

I wonder if different amazon locales behave differently? Perhaps co.uk and .com differs? @andyrpearson @AstroGD can you guys paste which ads/trackers are being blocked when you're attempting to watch content on Amazon but can't due to the shields? Example:

Rather than adding a screenshot, please copy the full URLs and paste them into the issue if you can. Much appreciated!
Will do it tomorrow

Same for me on Prime Video Germany, on latest and up to date Manjaro Linux with brave Version 0.63.34 Chromium: 74.0.3729.40 (Official Build) unknown (64-bit). I checked which additional queries are blocked when trying to start a video vs. when just browsing the catalog (to narrow down on the culprit) and came up with the following:
I'd assume the https://atv-ps-eu.amazon.de/cdp/catalog/GetPlaybackResources? links are those causing the issue as the rest looks like actual tracking
Same problem here with amazon.co.uk. Widevine is already installed and netflix is working, so it can't be a DRM problem
Version 0.62.51 Chromium: 73.0.3683.103 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I need to completely take the shields down for amazon to get playback working.
I am had experienced the same problem with the WidevineCdm in the USA as of April 15th with the latest Brave version. Solution is to turn off the "Connections Encryption" and that solved it.
I also was taking a secure test on Saturday for Dell using Brave and the connection stalled. I had all shields down for it.
@tolpster Disabling Connections Encryption does not work in my case as I commented above. I need to disable the blockage of ads and trackers for this particular error. But disabling parts of the shield is a workaround and no solution as the most people using brave I think want the entire shield activated.
But anyway thanks for the comment
this is still happening on

Workaround is still to only disable third-party-trackers
This issue does not affect amazon.com but amazon.de, amazon.co.uk and maybe other sites as well. It seems that the required URLs are whitelisted for amazon.com but not for other top-level-domains.
Just installed Brave and am experiencing the same problem.
Amazon.co.uk

[edit: amazon.co.uk not amazon.com]
Still happening. Any reason for this?
Still doesn't work, even with all shields down. (Amazon.de)
UPDATE:
Managed to get it working by disabling 'HTTPS Everywhere' in the settings.
Video is playing now but not in HD for some reason.
Thats strange - So it seems that my workaround is not working for everyone
Thats strange - So it seems that my workaround is not working for everyone
Hi - you're workaround does work for me (thanks!), but thought the dev's should know that their latest release did not solve the problem. I have to disable both Cross-site trackers and scripts
cheers, J.
Cannot play videos in HD on Prime Video (amazon.com in US).
Browser: Brave Version 0.66.99 Chromium: 75.0.3770.100 (Official Build) (64-bit), shields up, scripts unblocked.
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, Version 10.0.17763 Build 17763
Turning off shields doesn't help.
@frua97 do you have Widevine enabled/installed by any chance? If you visit brave://components, do you see a Widevine Content Decryption Module entry?
Same issue as @frua97 but on macOS. Cannot play videos in HD on Prime Video (amazon.com U.S.)
Using latest Brave stable version as of writing:
Version 0.66.100 Chromium: 75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) (64-bit)
and Widevine is enabled:
Widevine Content Decryption Module - Version: 4.10.1440.18
Status - Up-to-date
Tried with shields down, disabling HTTPS Everywhere, and other workarounds suggested above.
Weird thing is, HD works out of the box using the latest Brave Dev build, which seems to include the same version of Widevine. Not sure what's different.
@kjozwiak Yes, Widevine Content Decryption Module - Version: 4.10.1440.18 installed.
@rebron @bsclifton we should probably change this to a priority/P2 as it's getting a decent amount of +1 from the community. Thoughts?
Can our Amazon testers try out Brave Nightly? see if it helps or not?
Already works for me on Brave Dev, and confirmed on current Brave Nightly as well. (macOS 10.14)
Any idea of when it might come to the main version?

I've had the same problem with my own Chromium browser as well as Brave at the same time. It's working fine with Brave Nightly now. How did you fix it?
Still not working on my end :( this and #1337 , #3379 , #1726 (same issues with lastpass, basically) are the only issues that stop me from saying sayonara to Firefox, to be honest
Just going to cookies and allowing the blocked section worked to me.
HD playback is magically working for me now. Was going to experiment with cookie settings but haven't changed a thing yet. Maybe something changed with Amazon video delivery 🤷🏻♂️
Still doesn't work for me even with Shields down (Release version), please fix.
Amazon now displays an error message:

The link takes you to a page "Prime Video System Requirements for Computers" which states:
"To access Prime Video, please ensure that you are running the latest version of one of these web browsers:

Mozilla Firefox
Microsoft Internet Explorer

Brave does not appear to be supported unless it's considered to be Google Chrome. I'm still using Version 0.67.123 Chromium: 76.0.3809.87 (Official Build) (64-bit).
Brave Nightly does properly support HD on my system.
@frua97 thanks for confirming Nightly does work! 😄
Still doesn't work for me even with Shields down (Release version), please fix.
@karenkliu can you check and see if it's working for you on Nightly?
@kjozwiak It works on the latest version of Nightly (Version 0.70.36 Chromium: 76.0.3809.87) after I click "Allow" on the Widevine dialogue.
@bsclifton @rebron seems like this was most likely fixed via https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/4793?
@karenkliu would you be able to check the latest 0.68.x from https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases/ as well? I can't reproduce the original issue or I would have checked 👍
I just ran into the exact same issue.
For me, enabling/allowing Trackers fixes the issue.
Seems like this is not an issue with Brave itself.
0.67.123 Chromium: 76.0.3809.87
still got the same issue in the latest stable, however the latest beta worked for me a few days ago. not sure why.
Same issue on desktop:
Version 1.0.1 Chromium: 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Just tested on a clean profile (1.0.1), installed Widevine. Wouldn't play complaining I should update Widevine in brave://componients . Which I did, still complained with the same error message.
Once I restarted the browser, it worked fine. (Shields on). Playback is fine, I get the "Best Quality" when I played The Boys Episode 1
Amazon Prime Video (amazon.com, US) works on my system with Version 1.0.1 Chromium: 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit) works on Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 10.0.17763 Build 17763 with Shields UP, cross-site trackers blocked, connections upgraded to https, scripts NOT blocked, all cookies allowed, device recognition attempts blocked. More restrictive shield settings do not work.
Just a reach out, I've re-tested in Version 1.4.96 Chromium: 80.0.3987.132 (Official Build) (64-bit), With widevine installed, Shields on default (no changes) I had no issues with any playback.
Can you re-check there is amazon issues @AstroGD @andyrpearson @ivoberger @tamj0rd2 If possible?
Tested it with the same version of Brave and it works fine for me. If there is no one still having the issue i'll close this issue in a bit.
Just re-tested before closing this ticket, worked fine playing various Amazon prime videos.
Seems safe to close this now.
