Betonquest: Variable objective requires OP to function

Created on 7 Jan 2017  路  6Comments  路  Source: BetonQuest/BetonQuest

Hey !

It seems I am the only one on my server to be able to "complete" a variable objective.
When I give /op to a player, it works for them aswell; therefore I believe this is the reason.

Even people with full BetonQuest permissions can not complete this objective.

Do you have any insight on this ?

Thanks !

I know you can't complete it, that's why I used the quotes.
What I meant was, non-ops simply cannot store a variable using the "key: value" format in chat. Eventhough it does display the green "tick" to them, when I send a message to the player containing the supposedly stored variable, it is not parsed as if it were not defined...

This does function correctly for me (op) and when I give the player op.

Seems strange, but I'll take a look at this. I do all debugging while
having OP permissions, so it's likely I missed such bug.

I just realized: you can't complete that objective. That's the idea - it's not really an "objective", just a container for storing variables. Even the docs say that:

This objective is different. You cannot complete it, it will also ignore defined events and conditions. You can start it and that's it.

If you want it to be removed when someone types in a correct answer, just use password instead. You can also use variable condition to check if the variable typed by the player is correct and then cancel this objective with an event.

It works for me, but I'm testing without any other plugins. Maybe something else is interfering? Let's do this in a more formal way.

  1. Send me all your plugins' and server versions, via email if you don't want to show them publicly.
  2. Tell me the exact steps, one by one, to make the variable objective not work. Do this on a purged player.
  3. I assume it starts working immediately after typing /deop <name>, but if there's anything else to make it work, tell me that too.

@HollishKid ?

I'll close this, but if you're still experiencing the issue, let me know.
