Azure-docs: Is GitHub really mandatory?

We've just moved from on-premises TFS to Azure DevOps only to find out there are some new features only available when using a GitHub repository.
I tried creating an Azure Static Web App but it wouldn't let me without a GitHub repository... Is that really the only option?

Are you planning to support Azure DevOps repos?
