Azure-docs: Dataset creation via REST API?

It is my understanding that the creation of the Dataset is currently not possible via API REST, but SDK only. Is this correct? It will be possible in future to have an API endpoint to automatically create Datasets from Datastores? With datastores is already possible to create them via API.

The problem here is that the SDK loads an huge amount of libraries (numpy, pandas) that I don't want in my back end.

It's on our roadmap. we have the REST API but need to expose it with documentation
