Azure-docs: Latency routing vs priority routing vs weighted routing

Created on 15 Feb 2020  Â·  4Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

I dont think it is very clear how the latency routing is working. In the docs it says that latency is "the default", but the docs don't describe why. I think the latency routing is when weighted, and priority is alligned on all backends, like priority=1 and weight=50, but this is actually very hard to deduct from the UI.

I absolutely agree I does look over complicated if you pick traffic manager as base where you select what is the traffic routing method (performance, weight, priority) would be very beneficial for people configuring it.

3rd this feedback. This article doesn't read well for new users of load balancing, but I think would be a lot clearer with some examples, e.g.

  • "How to route your traffic 50/50 to two backend resources"
  • "How to route your traffic to a backup resource when the primary resource is unreachable/slow".
