I'm getting this error
unrecognized arguments: --enable-vmss
Has --enable-vmss been removed from the aks-preview CLI extension? I used it in the past successfully, but no longer

@benc-uk still works for me. Can you try re-registering the preview features and try again?
az extension add --name aks-preview
az extension update --name aks-preview
az feature register --namespace "Microsoft.ContainerService" --name "VMSSPreview"
az feature register --namespace "Microsoft.ContainerService" --name "AKSAzureStandardLoadBalancer"
I have already updated it and re-registered the features
I tried again and same problem
I am on
$ az extension list
[
{
"extensionType": "whl",
"name": "aks-preview",
"version": "0.4.11"
}
]
Got it. Are you running a local instance of CLI or the cloud shell?
Running locally
@benc-uk could you try with the Azure Cloud Shell? I used that environment and it worked yesterday.
Same issue in the Cloud Shell :(
My shell is reporting azure-cli 2.0.72

hmm looks like something is up with --enable-vmss.
@mlearned @sauryadas any idea on this?
@jluk might know.
Just ran it without --enable-vmss and I got a Standard SKU load balancer but also my cluster was backed with a VMSS
So maybe we've flipped to VMSS being the default ?
@benc-uk you are correct. However, we are re-enabling the --enable-vmss flag and reverting the default swap in order to give customers a notice on our release notes which are going out today. Expect the preview extension defaults to be changed on 9/10.
Sounds much like a case of "interesting" timing on my part!
Thanks for the investigation guys. I guess if --enable-vmss is coming back, there's no change to the docs needed
Yep you're really on the ball with this one - on 9/10 this SLB doc will be updated as well 👍
