Azure-docs: Explain better how to integrate with custom B2C Sign In policy

Created on 15 Aug 2019  Â·  4Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

Right now in this part of the doc: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory-b2c/active-directory-b2c-user-migration#step-43-add-a-technical-profile-and-technical-profile-validation-to-your-policy things are poorly explained.

Can you please explain this part better?

After you define the technical profile for your RESTful API, tell your Azure AD B2C policy to call the technical profile. The XML snippet overrides SelfAsserted-LocalAccountSignin-Email, which is defined in the base policy. The XML snippet also adds ValidationTechnicalProfile, with ReferenceId pointing to your technical profile LocalAccountUserMigration.

How can I call this technical profile from my custom B2C SignIn policy?

Where is this technical profile LocalAccountUserMigration?

#

The Visual Studio solution linked in the doc is missing the policies' files.

Also at the end of the doc you just link to the project and not to the policies' files.

After you complete the Get started with custom policies walk-through, we recommend that you build your scenario by using your own custom policy files. For your reference, we have provided sample policy files.

@leniel Hi Leniel, it turns out that this issue is in-part related to #37846. At some point, there was some shuffling around/reworking of the code samples and policy files referenced by the article, but the article wasn't updated to reflect those changes. This has of course caused the article text and code samples to drift such that the article text is now out-of-date in some places. We're working to bring these back in sync, and appreciate your patience while we get this sorted. Thanks for calling our attention to the problem!

Hi @leniel, you can find the pre-migration solution and sample policy files referenced in the article here:

https://github.com/azure-ad-b2c/user-migration/tree/master/pre-migration/source-code

And the sample policy files:

https://github.com/azure-ad-b2c/user-migration/tree/master/pre-migration/policy

The links in this article have been updated, however, it still needs an update so that it reflects the reality of those samples. Keeping this one open for now.
