Azure-docs: Ruby version?

Created on 25 Mar 2019  Â·  3Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

The only version of Ruby officially supported by Azure, according to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/containers/app-service-linux-intro, is 2.3 and the instructions in the Ruby Quickstart guide also indicate that 2.3 should be used, although az webapp list-runtimes --linux does list RUBY|2.4.5. As the security maintenance period for Ruby 2.3 will end on 31 March are there any plans to update the version that is officially supported by Azure? The current version is 2.6.2 and Rails 6, which will be released soon, has Ruby 2.5.3 as a minimum requirement.

@jrmhaig, Thanks for the question! We are taking a look into this and will get back to you soon.

@jrmhaig, We will work on refreshing the document with Ruby 2.4 soon and update.
The product team is currently working on adding Ruby 2.5 and 2.6 support on App Service, however we do not have an exact ETA to share on this as of yet. Thanks again for your feedback on this matter, it’s much appreciated.

@jrmhaig Sorry for the delay. The quickstart is now updated to use 2.6. It should be published in the next day. #please-close
