Azure-docs: Are Phrase lists removed from LUIS?

Created on 1 Mar 2019  Â·  14Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

I used Phrase lists in LUIS in the past. However, the entry is not visible in the left menu anymore even though the documentation says it should be there.

Are Phrase lists removed from LUIS?

@hansmbakker Thanks for the feedback. We are investigating into the issue and will update you shortly.

@hansmbakker Could you please let us know which language you selected while creating the app?
It looks like for some of the languages the phrase lists tab is not shown.

Yes, that seems correct. For en-us I see the phrase lists menu item, for nl-nl (Dutch) I don't see it

Here are the supported languages for phrase lists. Dutch does not seem to display this feature, Here is a screen shot from the app created for English language.

Could you please confirm if the app you created earlier was Dutch or English?

The app where it works was English indeed. However it would be userfriendlier if the menu item would be gray with an explanation instead of it disappearing without explanation.

@hansmbakker Thanks for your feedback. We will pass this feedback to our engineering team to provide more information in documentation.

@diberry FYI.. Please consider adding a link to the list of supported languages for this feature in the documentation here for the first point.

@RohitMungi-MSFT @hansmbakker I believe Hans may have found a bug. The service team is looking at it. #in-progress

@hansmbakker The fix has been deployed by the service team and phrases lists work for me on dutch apps. Can you please verify this fix works for you as well?

I’m not at work anymore but from my phone I can now see the Phrase lists menu entry for LUIS apps with the Dutch language! So it looks like it is fixed, thank you for the fast resolution!

@RohitMungi-MSFT probably there is a difference in language support between “phrase suggestions” and “phrase lists”? For Dutch, phrase lists work now.

@diberry Thanks for getting this fixed quickly. I believe the phrase list feature is supported for all languages in luis, Could you please confirm if this is correct?

Does the "phrase suggestions" column in the supported languages page refer to active learning to review the endpoint utterances? If Yes, can we update the column name to active learning as this may be the appropriate name since we do not have a term "phrase suggestions" listed in the documentation?

@hansmbakker Thanks for your feedback and we are glad phrase lists work for you now.

@RohitMungi-MSFT

Phrase suggestions is part of the Phrase list UX. When you create a phrase list and then add items to it, you can use the phrase list recommendations to find more items to add, based on what you have already added.

Phrase suggestions is not related to active learning.

I'll see if I can modify the docs to make this clear.

Thanks @diberry for the clarification. I will go ahead and close this issue as phrase lists are now available for all languages.

@hansmbakker FYI.. "Phrase Suggestions" is re-phrased to "Phrase list recommendations" in the supported languages page to avoid confusion
