Currently azcopy is only available in apt repositories for 14.04 and 16.04. Would it be possible to also add azcopy to the 18.04 (bionic) repository?
@silvester747 Hi, we are willing to help, but it will be helpful if you can share the document you are referring to. Thanks a lot.
@silvester747 Have you tried installing it from this link? https://github.com/Azure/azure-storage-azcopy
it's v10, the latest version.
Thanks,
Adam
Sorry for missing some details, let me clarify.
I was following the instructions from page: https://docs.microsoft.com/nl-nl/azure/storage/common/storage-use-azcopy-linux
There it describes the apt repositories for Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04. I tried something similar for 18.04, but there the apt repository is missing azcopy.
I am building a docker image for CI/CD use (with several tools). Using the download link was causing some trouble, as when the version is updated, the directory in the archive changes and my docker build fails. I would prefer to be able to use apt to install azcopy and have easy installation of the latest version like that. I can already do that for az-cli.
@silvester747 Thanks for the clarification I will report it to the Product group team as an internal product bug. I would also recommend leaving feedback on the following link: https://feedback.azure.com/forums/217298-storage
I escalated the feedback internally and will go ahead to close this issue:
We will now proceed to close this thread. If there are further questions regarding this matter, please reopen it and we will gladly continue the discussion.
Hello @Adam-Smith-MSFT, @silvester747 ,
First, @silvester747 thank you for opening this issue.
@Adam-Smith-MSFT,
This is still a problem, azcopy is not available for Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic.
We're encountering the same issue, we do testing on Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04 and 18.04 and our pipeline breaks on 18.04 because the azcopy package is not available.
I'd expect it to be in that repo now that 18.04 has been out for almost a year and it's the current LTS release.
Kind regards,
rnsc
Hello @Adam-Smith-MSFT ,
Can we have an update on this?
The issue was closed when obviously the problem is still present.
What's even more annoying is that the "Get Started" page now only hands a Linux tar file to install AzCopy.
Are you abandoning the Debian/Ubuntu packages?
Kind regards,
azcopy is also not available for Ubuntu 19.04. Any updates?
