Azure-docs: Step 7 is not very clear

Created on 12 Jan 2019  Â·  12Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

At step 7, it mentioned that we need to modify the ApplicationManifest.xml and ServiceManifest.xml. It's not very clear if we need to create another new Service Fabric application with container service then do the modification. I tried to modify the existing application following the instruction, then I got this error after deployment: "MainEntryPoint:EntryPointDescription { EntryPointType = ContainerHostContainerHost = ContainerEntryPointDescription { ImageName = {acr}/apps/myapp, Commands = , EntryPoint = , FromSource = }} terminated with exitcode 2147516545."

Thanks for the feedback! We are currently investigating and will update you shortly.

@wp1107 it should be the existing manifests. At which point we direct you to this doc:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/service-fabric/service-fabric-get-started-containers

Did you walk through that doc and are still seeing issues?

Yes. I followed the doc in VS2017 + .NET core 2.1 + Service Fabric 6.3 and it errored out at step 7 (as I commented in the doc). Which version of Visual Studio and versions of other SDKs have you tested that doc?

Thanks,
Wei

@wp1107
As @MicahMcKittrick-MSFT has stated, the referenced document provides a link to:
https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/service-fabric/service-fabric-get-started-containers

Given you stated you completed the first 6 steps successfully, it appears all you have left is following the provided guidance to update your Application Model (Manifests).

Specifically your ApplicationManifest.xml should be updated with minimally the Authentication credentials to allow your cluster to pull the image:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/service-fabric/service-fabric-get-started-containers#configure-container-registry-authentication

To pull the image your define in your ServiceManifest.xml:
E.G.
myregistry.azurecr.io/samples/helloworldapp

Thanks @aljo-microsoft

@wp1107 was that helpful? Any further comments?

Thanks for your follow-up. I will try these steps again tomorrow and get back to you.

Thanks for your follow-up!

Still some issues following the doc and suggestions from your side, but I am trying something a little differently. Will update you when I get some results.
