Azure-docs: On-premises integration has not been enabled. Learn how to enable password writeback.

Created on 10 Dec 2018  Â·  9Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

I have followed this guide but I still get "On-premises integration has not been enabled. Learn how to enable password writeback." under Home\Users\Password reset - On-premises integration.

We have Office 365 E3 licenses assigned to the tenant which should work according to this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/authentication/concept-sspr-writeback

@andy2002a Thanks for your feedback! We will investigate and update as appropriate.

@andy2002a
Office 365 E3 is not the same as Microsoft 365 E3 or Enterprise Mobility + Security E3. The warning on the page you reference calls this out.

https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/active-directory/authentication/concept-sspr-writeback#licensing-requirements-for-password-writeback
"Standalone Office 365 licensing plans don't support password writeback and require that you have one of the preceding plans for this functionality to work."

The licensing doc also clearly explains all of the scenarios and what license is required.

Thanks for clearing that up

please-close

Glad that cleared it up for you.

We are having this very problem, however we all have Microsoft 365 Business licenses. Please advise or should I contact support?

same for me

Same for me, business o365 premium licenses and the correct rights for the MSOL user are in place. Is there any fix yet?

Same issue. O365 E3 customer. According to the licensing info, this comes with AD Premium 1 as part of the license. Everything is setup, been using hybrid for 5yrs now. Audit shows it is enabled, but still have greyed out Write back password to your on-prem directory and message that says "On-premises integration has not been enabled. Learn how to enable password writeback."
