Is it possible to convert Unmanaged Disk to Managed Disk with Portal?
Is Powershell are the current only option to convert to managed disk????

@KeiroKamioka0000 as of now we only have the option to convert to managed disk using PowerShell or CLI. We do not have the option to do this via the portal. If this is a feature you would like to see I would suggest leaving that feedback on
UserVoice so the product teams and see it and consider adding it as a feature

@KeiroKamioka0000 actually, it is available! If you go to a VM that uses unmanaged disks in the portal, click on Disks section, you should have a button at the top of the page to Migrate to managed disks. I talked to the engineering team and they were going to whip up a blog post (since they now realize they haven't really advertised this change). I'll get it added to the docs ASAP as well :)

@KeiroKamioka0000 okay, added details to the CLI and PowerShell docs. Biggest thing to remember is that if your VM is in an availability set, you need to convert the AV set first (the portal warns you about this and walks you through it). Doc changes should go live sometime after 3:00PM PST. Thanks again!

Hi all, I have a quick question since the portal option is so new. If using the portal to migrate VMs in an availability set to managed disks, will the portal option incur any downtime?

@allar7 yes. The backend processes are still the same. So converting to a manged disk will cause your VM to reboot.

Thanks! I saw the "The VM will be stopped and restarted after migration is complete," but wasn't sure if there was any other DT associated with it.
