Azure-docs: Service Principals or MSIs for O365 Exchange PowerShell

I can find information to connect to AzureAD PowerShell using a service principal, but it seems like this is not possible for the O365 Exchange PowerShell. Is this correct? I'm sure many orgs have Exchange Admin accounts running some scripts. Do these have to be added as exceptions, or is there some other way to mitigate this, given that MSI and SPs don't seem to work for O365?

Has there been any progress on this? With basic authentication being disabled next year for exchange online we need secure methods for automated access to exchange powershell without needing to accept and MFA prompt
