Azure-docs: Need documentation on more advanced (realistic) scenario

Created on 21 Jun 2018  Â·  11Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/azure-docs

The documentation is good but does not mention anything about Listeners, Rules, or URL/Path based routing. Most people would not have an ASE for a single app so it would be nice if the article detail could be expanded to cover a scenario where there may be multiple apps and/or some Function Apps inside the ASE.

@Phydeauxman Thanks for the feedback! I have assigned the issue to the content author to investigate further and update the document as appropriate.

I also find the docs lacking severely in realistic scenarios for AGW and ASE integration.
Specifically I would like to see multi-site path-based routing addressed in connection with ASE.

@ccompy There's an article that covers Path based w/ Azure VMs. An article for App GW w/ 1 internal ASE App Svc, but there's nothing that combined these: App GWs path based routing with internal App Service Environment's App Services. This is a complex issue because of needing to potentially configure an 'override backend path'. Please consider working more with App GW folks on producing such a tutorial

@CHDAFNI-MSFT here here

Any update on this? I have a scenario coming up where the ILB ASE environment has about a dozen different apps in it and would like documentation on how to go about using the WAF with it.

@Vegas588 same here as I've been struggling for the past few weeks trying to achieve that...

Hello guys, I managed to pull it off and here is the link to the blog: https://chenlong.hu/blog/read?id=mea0oNMCWJKGOrf9wlaDDuDVKel4&category=Tech
Feel free to comment and share.
Cheers.

@chenlonghu Thanks for this great tutorial, really very useful!

Update on my blog following the latest update of ASE (created after May 2019): https://chenlong.hu/blog/read?id=mea0oNMCWJKGOrf9wlaDDuDVKel4&category=Tech

With the new WAF_v2 SKU you no longer need to set the ILB ASE root certificate on http settings. This is very useful as ILB ASE after May 2019 will rotate the cert and you need to update it after your service will fail (only way you find out when is changed)
