By way of experiment I started writing Gradle build scripts for Axon Framework, effectively porting the Maven pom files to Gradle.
I'm made good progress so far but there is a long road ahead. Before continuing my pursuit I'm wondering whether there is an interest in this effort from AxonIQ?
Regards,
We'll have an internal chat about it @bliessens, thanks for sharing your efforts on the matter.
So, we have had a chat about this internally @bliessens, which provides a conclusion to some extent.
We feel that this boils down to a matter of taste really. Do you want to craft (arguably ugly) XML or will you program your build file yourself? There are pros and cons to be called for both in this space, but what's most important for us on the matter is a form of consistency. Thus changing it for framework, would impose requirements for every extension right now.
We feel that it currently isn't the right moment in time to actually make that change.
Regardless I'd like to thank you for sharing that you are working on this; any insights are always much appreciated.
Obviously feel free to come with extra pointers if you feel strongly that we should move this direction, @bliessens. This freedom extends to anybody reading this issue of course. For the time being though, the issue will be closed.
I'm ok with that @smcvb. If transitioning to Gradle is not planned in any foreseeable future this should not be your focus either.
