Argo-cd: UI Branding for Argo CD UI

Summary

While deploying Argo CD we need the ability to be able to customize UI by having a logo for specific vendor /customer that is using.

Motivation

The motivation is that it provides a personalisation for organisations who would like to use an open source solution like this

Proposal

It needs to be part of standard offering making it possible through configuration while deploying using helm charts
for Argo CD rather than creating any custom image which adds additional work

@jannfis I would like to take this issue, please :)

We are using ArgoCD in many environments across ThousandEyes and it is difficult to differentiate between which ArgoCD instance correspond to which environment. This often confuses our developers and increases the risk of accidentally synchronizing a change in PROD when it was meant to synchronized in STAGING.

We are hoping to add two features related to this issue:

1. Ability to customize the logo
2. Ability to pass in custom CSS so we can change colors etc. wherever we want

The CSS would probably get passed in as yaml-string via configMaps

What are your thoughts on this?

Hi @aistein - we would actually love it if you take on this issue! Thank you for this offer, much appreciated. I think this would be of good use to many users of ArgoCD.

I like the idea of passing CSS in the ConfigMap, maybe the URL to the logo could be configured in the CM as well.

@aistein @alxmt @astein-te sorry for bugging, can you please let me know if it's possible to change the logo as well , right now am working on a POC where we are evaluating various opensource tools to deliver our SaaS software onto onprem and re-branding the tool choosen is one important criteria over there, when I demoed argoCD internally everyone was impressed about it's capabilities and whether we will be able to rebrand it or not is one conern which many folks has raised
