Apps-android-commons: Log P18 edits after direct Nearby uploads implemented

After #252 is implemented, we will need to log the Wikidata P18 edits made via our app, for collecting metrics (number of edits made), as well as to confirm that we are doing it correctly.

How and where shall these logs be made?

What information should be logged if we are able to make edits to this page?

I would go wth username, wikidata item edited, file title, time that the edit was made. Anything else that anyone would like to add?

Oh, and having a counter that increments for each edit logged would be very helpful for our final report. :)

We already apply a "tag" called "mobile app edit" to some of our edits (when uploading or editing an image, as seen in the first two edits here).
Adding the same "tag" to our Wikidata edits would be the most appropriate thing to do, I would say.
Fortunately, the same tag already exists on Wikidata: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:Tags

Update: Now I realize that there are already 170,764 mobile app edits on Wikidata. So we might want to ask for a tag that only our app would use.

Tagging edits in Wikidata seems like a very good idea, @nicolas-raoul . It will provide a very important additional metric.

I'm in favour of scrapping the log page on Commons entirely if we are able to use edit tags to measure number of images remaining on Wikidata - and create a list of those images - using the edit tags. However it may be very complicated to deduce (count) this metric with just the edit tag, won't it? Is it possible to list all images (with their file names) added with an edit with a given edit tag?

As pointed out in the phabricator discussion, it should be trivial to add the tags by making another API call just after a successful edit is made.

Moreover, I have requested the Wikidata Administrators to create a new tag for us. :)

I'm having a problem with the log page - it seems that it restricts the logs to the past 30 days. There is no option to choose a larger number of days, and even manually setting the param in the URL defaults to 30.

Am I missing something? @nicolas-raoul

For instance, edits by ‎Nelita Castro are not showing (and many others as well).

@misaochan The queries are not dynamic - you have to rerun the query every time you want up-to-date results. I just rerun the query and the edits are there. If you want to run them yourself, you have to log in and fork the query.

From a reviewer's point of view, it would be super-cool if we had a web page showing for each Wikidata edit:

• Thumbnail of the picture
• Label of the Wikidata item in English or another human-readable language, linking to the Wikidata item
• Timestamp and author of the edit, linking to the author's contributions or talk page
• Maybe even a tiny world map showing a point at the Wikidata item's location (we have its latitude/longitude)? (optional, not vital at all)
• Updated once a day

_Note: I believe in Santa Claus :-)_

Sure :-). Will publish it in a while. By the way, I've written https://tools.wmflabs.org/harvesting-data-refinery/ for Aktron. After logging in via your Wikidata account, you must choose username, property and limit and by clicking on images (for instance) you revert the edit that added the image. Maybe I can try to make the username part not mandatory, or allow you to filter by tag, so you can use this for patrolling data from your apps, too.

Everyday I patrol the recent Wikidata edits, and indeed having this page with thumbnails would be so much better than the Recent Changes page :-)

I know I am asking for a lot, but a "Mark as patrolled" button would make this a perfect tool ^_^ The button should only be shown to users who have the patrolling privilege. It should do the same as the "Mark as patrolled" button in the Recent Changes page (disabled by default). The button should only be shown for unpatrolled edits.

Another even more low-priority request: It would be nice to have a "Thank" button to thank the user, it would push a Wikimedia thank to both Commons (for the picture upload) and Wikidata (for the P18 edit) :-)

@urbanecm Unfortunately, you need to manually update the list of items in the Query (AFAIK, Query cannot read from Quarry). It's getting longer every time (and shorteners don't work any more) but here you are:

@misaochan Yeah, it's a really cool visualization of what we have achieved with the app. I get the list from @nicolas-raoul 's quarry (https://quarry.wmflabs.org/query/37568) ... and just add "wd:" in front of QIDs using Excel into each line :)
