This is admittedly a little bikesheddy, but wouldn't a more appropriate commit summary for apm publish simply be Release v1.0.0 instead of Prepare v1.0.0 release...?
The latter strikes me as vague and slightly inaccurate, because there's nothing to "prepare". The version is finalised, and the publication of the tagged commit is what literally releases that version.
