There is a lot of alternatives to firebase, like mongoDB witch is also so popular but with all the thinks that comes firebase, storage, authentication and the documentation is very easy to develop platforms, i really recommend you to learn firebase.
Or if you dont want to use none of these you can make your own database with nodejs and some server

Even Firebase has a free plan to get you up and running.

Why would you need an alternative for Firebase if I may ask?
