Android: Instant upload broken for videos

The videos taken should autoupload, but I just realized it is not happening anymore. The last autouploaded video is dated November 1st, 2017.

I checked the synchronized DCIM/Camera folder, my videos are there (.mp4), I checked the upload history in the Nexcloud Android app: no failed transfers in the list.

It looks like the app simply isn't triggering the autoupload for videos.

I just activated video auto upload for the camera folder, connected to wi-fi, created a video, it got uploaded

Tested on latest master, so at least when video upload hasn't been active and got activated in 3.0.0RC1/master it seems to work.

Possibly. I have this issue and have my camera app set to store on external sd card...

Currently, yes, however I've had this issue through quite a few upgrades. From memory though it did work somewhere around the 2.0 release.

I had the same issue. I then discovered that photos and video are are enabled and configured separately (the icon on the left of the folder name is different) for each folder. I don't know if this is intended or not.

But when I installed the application and activated the instant upload feature, I didn't have any video taken from my phone on my phone. And if there is no video and the instant upload of video for a folder was never configured, the video version of the folder doesn't appears. And even when the video version of the folder, I did not notice right away.

So this issue may be more about discoverability and user interface than a bug.

I definitely have upload activated for both photos and videos...

I have both activated and no update fixed the issue since then.

I also just realized that many random photos haven't been uploaded since a while (with no error in history). Yesterday I took two, only one got uploaded and appears in the history screen. The "funny" thing is that those missed photos do appear as preview in the auto-upload settings screen.

This weekend has been a missed again. Only a few of my children photos got uploaded, and no videos. I wouldn't advice anyone to use Nextcloud for souvenirs backup at the moment.

Luckily I haven't turned off the reliable Google Photos as of yet...

@AndyScherzinger @tobiasKaminsky unless this is one of the strange phones (Huawei, Oppo, etc) and the client has not misconfigured something and indeed things don't get scheduled for upload, we need to put back the power locking stuff I've put in before.

At first I thought the issue was caused by the remote folder being located an an external samba share and the HDD takes dome time to spin up for the first access.
But then it should work at least some times.

The "permission error" is also strange, because it works for photos and if I upload a video manually into the remote folder.

Just renamed a video to *.jpg and it seems to work via instant upload!
So there seems to be an issue with the .mp4 (or not-.jpg) file suffix.

I just locked at my issue again and realized I defined a wrong folder for AutoUploading my videos.
Now I upload my videos to the same remote folder I upload my images (like I intended from the beginning) and now it works.
