Android: [Improvement] Add option to always open video files in external players

Created on 11 Nov 2016  路  5Comments  路  Source: nextcloud/android

Short description

Please add an option to always open video files in an external player.

Long description

At the moment, when I click on a video in the Beta app the app starts streaming the video in the internal player. This is OK for people that don't have any good external video players. However, there are a lot of people that have very advanced external video players (with brightness control, swipe navigation, etc.), which support much more formats than the internal video player. For those people it would be nice to open the videos by default in the external player, since the current solution by long pressing the video, going to the context menu, and choosing "Stream video file in external player", is really time consuming and unnecessary.

Minor change: Instead of using a checkbox we can use the confirmation dialog that is already present and add there a checkbox "always start in external player".

Good idea.
I suggest to show a toast when clicking "stream video player in external player":
"Always stream with external player?" Yes / Never.
If this "always ext player" is set, then on long click the menu item should be "open video in internal player" and show the toast in the "other direction".
