amplify-js 🚀 - Sign-in with React component not triggering Cognito User Migration lambda

L1405 doesn't seem to be checking for existence and triggering the lambda in its absence. Does Auth support any of the Cognito workflow triggers?

This is interesting, as far as I know, all the triggers are called by the cognito service itself, not client-side by the sdks (like aws-amplify or amazon-cognito-identity-js).

Do you see the same behavior if you don't customize the component?

Amplify by default uses 'USER_SRP_AUTH', and you can override this, see https://aws-amplify.github.io/docs/js/authentication#manual-setup

@manueliglesias I'm not certain when the authentication flow type needs to be set, but this code in my App.js (before declaration of App class) does not successfully set the authentication type:

Amplify.configure(aws_exports, {Auth: {authenticationFlowType: "USER_PASSWORD_AUTH"}});

I've also tried manually setting it with Auth.configure(), both before and after the above declaration, and it has no effect. This is the preview header to Cognito with this code:

But when I add this line:

I'm finally able to get the password sent over the wire, but now Cognito is dumping back a 500 error with a malformed (HTML injected) error message:

So I guess I was able to find a solution to getting Amplify to use USER_PASSWORD_AUTH, but then the migration lambda -- which is the same lambda that is triggered for our backend CRM when signing up new users, and works fine -- is dumping a ridiculous error message back to the client.

Is this something I should take up with the Cognito team, or do you have any insight on this?

Any updates? I'm using the angular auth component.

In my view I added .

And I have manually enabled the flow in the App clients of the Cognito User Pool to USER_PASSWORD_AUTH.

But the lambda function does not get triggered.

Is this a known issue with User Migration? Thanks.

@jarrettj @manueliglesias I think you forget to include a snippet of your view, but: I think we resolved this by ensuring that Auth (and then Amplify) are configured at the top of the program. At one point I had code like this IIRC:

Amplify.configure(aws_exports, {Auth: {authenticationFlowType: "USER_PASSWORD_AUTH"}});
Amplify.configure({Auth: {authenticationFlowType: "USER_PASSWORD_AUTH"}})

But this "fix" worked b/c our app was ignoring race conditions and we just got lucky. Once we configured Amplify.configure/Auth.confgure as literally the first statement in our application's entry point (as defined by webpack config in this instance) in index.js the issue was resolved.

I don't remember how I fixed the HTML dump. *shrugs* But it looks like you're not experiencing this anyway.
