Describe the bug
After amplify add storage, amplify push throws this error:

Resource is not in the state stackUpdateComplete

**

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Execute amplify add storage
  2. Execute amplify push
  3. Push fails and throws the above error.
  4. See error

Expected behavior
Push should complete successfully

Env (please complete the following information):

  • OS: MacOS
  • Browser [e.g. chrome, safari]: Chrome
    - Node: v10.15.1
    - npm: 6.4.1
    - amplify: 0.2.2-multienv.1

Additional context
I went through other issues and ran the following commands and the issue still is still outstanding:
amplify env pull --restore
amplify remove storage
amplify add storage
amplify push

I tried to follow the instructions provided in this article that talks about this issue:

It refers to this github issue: https://github.com/aws-amplify/amplify-cli/issues/82.

Anyhow after following those steps in the article amplify push is still failing.

Hence I upgraded the CLI to this version: 1.6.10

Now amplify push throws a lot more verbose information:

@stayingcool S3 bucket name have to be globally unique (not just in your account) and from the CloudFormation error it looks like the bucket name you chose has already been taken. Could you try using a different bucket name which is not taken?

@ravnarayan could you include the full cloudformation log. From the above output I cant see what failed.

Also whats version of Amplify CLI you have running on your machine?

@ravnarayan when you run amplify push it prints it to the screen. Could you include everything after the push command

@ravnarayan the logs don't show anything as failing. Could you goto the cloudformation console and see if there is anything that failed earlier. You can find your stack name by looking at <project-root>/amplify/backend/amplify-meta.json under provider -> awscloudformation -> StackName

Okay so i looked into amplify-meta.json and all it shows is lastPushTimeStamp, and under stack name it illustrates "mobileappreactnative"

@ravnarayan I won't have access to the Cloud Formation resource created in your project. Could you goto the cloudformation console and choose the region where you have your project provisioned. After this you should be able to see the search for the stack name mobileappreactnative and see the events.

Could you share any failed events from there so we know whats going on with your project

I looks like one of the nested stack has issue. Could you search for mobileappreactnative-20190425055621-analyticsmobileappreactnativ in the Cloudformation and see if there are any events that have failed there

could you open the file <project-root>/amplify/backend/analytics/<resource-name>/pinpoint-cloudformation-template.json and see whats the version of node in Runtime? If its nodejs6.10 follow the migration docs from our doc site and update your resource and see if that fixes the issue

The following resource(s) failed to create: [PinpointFunctionOutputs]. |   |  (as per my last Correspondence), this is the only one i can see. Also i had to change nodejs6.10 - nodejs8.10 in order to get rid of the error i was facing before, so yeah this is up to date

@ravnarayan could you share the <project-root>/amplify/backend/analytics/<resource-name>/pinpoint-cloudformation-template.json file. Its not really clear whats happening from the Cloudformation log

Hey @yuth

What i am doing now is trying to run "Amplify Push" after running "amplify remove auth"... I think cognito may have been a issue... Once its complete i will advise if there are any errors... After that maybe i can go back in and add "amplify add auth" to bring cognito back in.

Do you think this will work?

Also my "pinpoint-cloudformation-template.json" 537 lines, is there a specific that you are looking for?

Yes. I still have the issue.

What is very frustrating is to restart a new project, recreate everything, rewire everything and expect the push every time to work nervously.

@stayingcool You might want to manually delete this S3 bucket from the AWS console - pnamarch05-06-devfirst and try pushing again.
