Amethyst: Wide and Tall Layouts are swapped!

Describe the bug
The tall and wide layouts appear to be swapped in my system. See the attached screenshots. Everything was working fine for the past couple of weeks. Is there anyway to delete all the cache/settings?

I deleted the layouts restarted Amethyst and added the layouts again and it seems that solved it. I can close the issue since my problem went away. However, it would be nice to look into this since the application can get stuck in an unusable state.

My guess is that you increased the main pane count enough that everything was in the main pane. Maintaining layout state meant it wasn't getting reset after quitting and opening again. Some of the state information discussion would be in #970, and this could have been fixed by unchecking restore layout state and relaunching, but it's probably worth considering a manual refresh of state at some level.

I got the same issue. It mostly happens with Finder and Preview windows, so what I usually do (it happened a couple of times already) is delete all Amethyst settings and relaunch. The solution posted before of unchecking "Restore layouts on launch" might be a better solution for now.

It is worth nothing that I started to experience this issue after the supplemental update 10.15.4, so it may be related (or not).

Maybe the update introduced some window state / count bug? Sometimes, after logging in, some apps that I closed the day before get restored; it seems that OS X didn't even remember that I closed them.

I randomly started experiencing this issue today. Tall is wide, and wide is also wide. However, Tall Right and Wide Tall both work fine. Switching to Wide Tall saved me.

I finally figured out my issue, and I am so happy I did! Apparently I had done "Increase main pane count" a bunch of times on accident. If you are experiencing this, switch to the layout you expect to work, and hit your "Decrease main pane count" hotkey a bunch of times. Hopefully yours will be fixed as well.

EDIT: I just realized the original poster actually mentioned this is in the question, but I missed it.

One more update on my issue, I have had this return multiple times. Each time, my fix is just to execute "Decrease main pane count" a bunch of times. I hope this helps someone!

This happened to me too, but decreasing main pane count a bunch of times didn't work. Maybe I had increased it too much and never got to the point of decreasing it enough as to have just one main window?

Anyways, removing Tall and adding it again worked (with an amethyst restart)

Maybe having the layout floater indicate the number of main panes would help here ("Wide, 1 main pane", etc.)
