Altair: Mac app fails opening since last update

Created on 27 May 2019  ·  14Comments  ·  Source: imolorhe/altair

I use the mac client, and since last update I get this error. The app does open but it's impossible for me to see any windows. I can't open a new tab, and when I "show all windows" on mac for that app, it says none are available.

When do you get the error? I just tested it and it works fine.

The error for me occurs on startup, but it does load the application after I click OK, it just doesnt show any windows.
Im on macOS Mojave 10.14

Can you try an older version of Altair?

I got it working after removing the cache files it was storing in ~/Library/Caches.

Another Mac issue I'm noticing, on 2.1.9 is this:

I don't know what happened, but it's completely borked. I've tried force-reloading, uninstalling and reinstalling the application, uninstalling then running sudo find / -iname "*altair*" -delete and reinstalling, but nothing fixes this.

@beardedeagle That issue seems to be related to some data corruption. Have you tried checking the error in the developer console? That usually gives a good pointer to what could be causing this.

I'd assume completely nuking everything from disk related to Altair would fix that. I did crack it open once but was critt'd with a wall of text of errors. I can reinstall and paste them here if you'd like.

Yes I would like that 🙂

I ended up having to return that mac to work due to issues. Might have been what caused it, but I will be unable to provide that data now as I now have a windows dell machine. Apologies.

@imolorhe I have this exact same issue. It just stopped working. Tried similar things related to reinstall and I got nothing.

Version 2.2.0 (2.2.0.4036)

  • OS: mac osx

@jsphweid Can you check the developer console for what error you are getting?
