Active_model_serializers: Meta is not showing in response.

Created on 21 Feb 2017  路  2Comments  路  Source: rails-api/active_model_serializers

Expected behavior vs actual behavior

'meta' should be showing in response with associations included but 'meta' is not being shown in response even if I make root: 'sites'

Steps to reproduce

(e.g., detailed walkthrough, runnable script, example application)

I'm working on Rails-5 project with API implemented, I need to return root object with all its associations. e/g;
render json: @site_instance, include: [[subjects: [visits: [quadrants: [:pictures]]]]], root: "sites", meta: { count: 10 }

Environment

ActiveModelSerializers Version (commit ref if not on tag):

I'm using active_model_serializers-0.10.4

Output of ruby -e "puts RUBY_DESCRIPTION":
ruby 2.3.1p112 (2016-04-26 revision 54768) [x86_64-darwin15]

OS Type & Version:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
Integrated application and version (e.g., Rails, Grape, etc):

Rails 5.0.1

Backtrace

(e.g., provide any applicable backtraces from your application)

Additonal helpful information

I'm guessing you're using the default attributes adapter. I agree that this is an inconvenient default at times. Are you setting ActiveModelSerializers.config.adapter = :json? What if you render json: @site_instance, include: [[subjects: [visits: [quadrants: [:pictures]]]]], root: "sites", meta: { count: 10 }, adapter: :json.
